Baby Alpaca Wool, contrary to its name, does not necessarily come from baby alpacas. It's actually just a name for the fineness of the fibers. Baby alpaca is the second softest grade of alpaca fleece, and is the inner, downy fibers on the back and/or neck of any age alpaca whose fleece falls within the appropriate micron count.
Alpaca wool is most known for its softness, but it is also oil and lanolin free, making it hypoallergenic. It can be a wonderful substitute for people who are allergic to sheeps wool.

Wool Features
Luster: While alpaca is not particularly shiny, it takes and holds dyes well.
Drape: Alpaca drapes very well, as it has no memory, resulting in very soft, flexible locs.
Insulation: While alpaca wool is 7 times more insulating than sheeps wool, it is also very breathable.
